Pavel Tesárek, a father of a young son, was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia last autumn. After demanding treatment, a bone marrow transplant became his only hope, but his donor withdrew at the last moment. Without it, doctors estimate he has only about two months to live.
The Faculty of Health Care Studies at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen is helping to find a donor. On Tuesday, April 21, at 2 PM, it will host a recruitment event open to students, staff, and the public, where volunteers can be tested and registered on site.
The campaign aims not only to help Pavel but also to increase the number of registered donors in the Czech Republic, where many patients still struggle to find a suitable match.
