A blend of youthful energy, experience, and the joy of singing. All this awaits visitors on Wednesday, May 6, at 6:00 PM at the joint spring concert of the Pilsen Academic Choir of the Faculty of Education, University of West Bohemia, and the Pilsen Conservatory Choir, held in the Koranda Assembly Hall in Pilsen. The program will present compositions spanning centuries – from Petr Václav Michna’s (Při havraním mostku) through a playful arrangement of Jaroslav Ježek’s “There’s a Ghost in the House,” to the lyrical Dream by Bohuslav Martinů and the sacred Locus iste by Anton Bruckner.
The diversity of the repertoire is one of the concert’s main attractions. “The repertoire has been chosen primarily to allow all conductors to present themselves and to ensure the program is engaging, varied, and enjoyable both for the audience and the singers. We did not seek a unifying theme for the spring concert, as in autumn and winter we will perform concerts with a pre-arranged repertoire,” explained Romana Feiferlíková from the Department of Music Education and Culture.
At the conductor’s podium, two conductors and one female conductor will take turns – Vít Aschenbrenner, Václav Dlask, and Eliška Mužová. Dlask is a doctoral student at the Department of Music Education and Culture, while Mužová is in her first year of the follow-up Master’s program in Music Education. Alongside experienced leadership, young musicians connected with the Faculty of Education are also given space. The concert also brings together two musical institutions in Pilsen and demonstrates the strength of student collaboration at different educational stages.
