The Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen (FDU) invites you to the Design & Science exhibition. The interdisciplinary gallery show will open to visitors on Wednesday, February 25, at 6 p.m. at the Ladislav Sutnar Gallery in the center of Pilsen. The exhibition will guide visitors through the typical process of creating functional prototypes at the Sutnar Faculty. It will showcase specific works by students from the Industrial Design, Ceramic Design, and Environmental Design for Architecture studios, as well as works by teachers from the Interactive Design studio. The Pilsen creations will be complemented by designs from teachers from the studios of the Faculty of Multimedia Communications at Tomáš Baťa University in Zlín. The individual projects are the result of dialogue with experts from technical and medical faculties and often also international partnerships. 

The works on display span a very diverse range of fields. Visitors will see, for example, CataBox – a floating rescue cradle designed for evacuating small children from flooded areas. The exhibition will also introduce them to the research project Prevention of Pelvic Floor Disorders, which responds to frequent specific difficulties experienced by women after childbirth. A lighter take on the assignment is offered by the interactive project Pig Farm, which was created during preparations for the Blik Blik light festival. Glowing pigs that react to movement with light and sound are not just a spectacular attraction, but also a well-thought-out object that combines design and multimedia.

The Design & Science exhibition will run at the Ladislav Sutnar Gallery in Pilsen until March 28.
