Both study at the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, and both earn extra money during their studies by working in factory halls just a stone's throw from the university campus. Graphic designer Ina Dubava and Alina Sivets from the Animation studio have translated this double life into the performance Double Shift. The students created it for the experimental theatre and performance festival NASTEVŘENO, and participants can join their metaphorical and real journey through Borská pole as early as Thursday, 21 May.
The Double Shift happening has several parts. At 3 PM at the Sutnar Faculty, it will open with an approximately half-hour lecture by Hana Maříková and Zdeňka Nováková from the Regional Education Centre on transferable competencies, knowledge, and skills that remain with us even as we change fields, jobs, or life plans. Participants will then set off with Ina Dubava and Alina Sivets into the industrial landscape of Borská pole to collect a symbolic load, which they will carry to Moving Station. There, a collaborative work will bring the performance to a close. More details about the authors and the happening are on the event website.
The Bory district of Plzeň is the focus of this year's sixth edition of the new theatre festival NASTEVŘENO. The program connects international artists with residents and unusual venues. From Wednesday, 20 May to Sunday, 24 May, participants can look forward to theatre and dance performances, a neighbourhood feast, various performances, a ritual, a musical ceremony, installations, and guided walks. The festival opens up Plzeň as a city full of stories, unexpected encounters, and new possibilities. The full program is on the festival website. Some events are ticketed.
