Are you writing a final thesis and feeling under pressure? You are not alone. While some people manage to handle the situation, others succumb to the pressure and resort to less-than-ideal solutions, such as fraud. This is exactly the topic that will be addressed in a lecture on Tuesday, June 9, at 10:00 AM at the University Library of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen on the Bory campus.
Jan Hrbek from the Department of Electrical Power Engineering at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of West Bohemia will use several examples to introduce the audience to how such frauds arise, how they can be detected, and what their impact is on the credibility of science and society. The lecture will focus on the basic forms of scientific misconduct - from falsifying data to manipulating authorship or citation practices. Jan Hrbek will pay special attention to generative AI, which can facilitate the creation of misleading texts, images, or data. The aim is to open a discussion about new risks and show how to defend against them.
Interested parties can register for the lecture via this form.
