Associate Professor Jiří Hammerbauer is a prominent figure not only at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, but across the entire University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, where he currently serves as Vice-Rector for Creative Activities and Doctoral Studies. Alongside his management duties, he continues to teach students at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, sharing his expertise in courses focused on vehicle electronics, unmanned systems, and power supply and charging technologies. On Tuesday, March 24, he received the Regional Governor’s Award for outstanding teaching.
“Over the long term, he has ranked among the most popular and highly regarded lecturers in the fields of electronics and power supplies. He has applied his experience in the roles of Vice-Dean and Dean, where he emphasized the integration of education with students’ creative and research activities, and played a key role in establishing the faculty’s research center,” states the award citation, which also highlights his sustained support for the development of technical education in the region.
“Teaching requires expertise, patience, personal commitment, and long-term inner motivation. It is therefore right that such work receives public recognition. I am pleased that this recognition has been awarded to Vice-Rector Jiří Hammerbauer, as he truly deserves it for everything he has done for generations of students at our university,” said Rector Miroslav Lávička.
Doc. Ing. Jiří Hammerbauer, Ph.D., was born in 1964. He completed his doctoral studies in Electronics in 1999 and qualified as an associate professor in the same field in 2003. From 2010 to 2018, he served as Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. One of his most significant achievements in that role was the construction of the RICE research center. He is currently Vice-Rector for Research and the statutory deputy to the Rector.
