Direct contact with material — its texture, structure, and its ability to shape space visually and acoustically. The collective exhibition titled Keep in Touch, organized by the Furniture and Interior Design studio at the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art, University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, presents works by students and teachers who used material experiments to explore the properties, transformations, and potential uses of alternative raw materials. The exhibited objects underwent acoustic testing at the Research and Innovation Center for Electrical Engineering (RICE, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of West Bohemia in Pilsen), and their internal structures were examined by experts using an electron microscope at NTC UWB (New Technologies – Research Center).

The process behind each material combines different approaches and disciplines — from so-called tangible thinking (design based on direct, hands-on experience with materials) through experimental production to laboratory analysis. Both students and teachers explore the variability of materials and search for new ways to apply them in contemporary design. The Keep in Touch exhibition also invites visitors to physical interaction — the exhibits can be touched, allowing visitors to explore their structure and acoustic properties.

The exhibition will be on view at the Ladislav Sutnar Gallery in the center of Pilsen from Thursday, September 3, to Thursday, October 1. The opening will take place on Wednesday, September 23, at 6:00 PM. The curator is Jana Potiron, head of the Furniture and Interior Design studio.
