The New Technologies - Research Centre (NTC) of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen invites you to the Science and Technology Park on Monday, March 9, for a lecture on a hybrid model for pneumonia detection. The program begins at 3:30 PM. The session will be led by student and quantum technology enthusiast Michal Forgó. The lecture is part of a long-term seminar series focused on the possibilities and applications of quantum technologies.
Michal Forgó is a student at the Secondary School of Informatics and Financial Services in Pilsen (INFIS) and is currently an intern at NTC. He has already achieved several successes in quantum informatics. For example, together with his team, he won first place at the international hackathon “Prague Quantum Hackathon 2025.” In the future, he plans to study quantum physics abroad and continue working in technology and innovation. His model is designed to help doctors detect pneumonia in patients’ chest X-ray images. It combines classical and quantum programming, integrating a ResNet-50 feature extractor with PCA and a 6-qubit variational quantum classifier implemented in the PennyLane software framework.
The NTC seminar on quantum technologies aims to provide a space for exchanging new knowledge in the field and introducing various current research topics. The use of these technologies is expected in the near future. However, the lectures are not intended solely for scientists and students. Anyone interested in the latest trends in science and technology is welcome, including those without an advanced background in mathematics or physics.
The lecture will be delivered in Czech. (If you are interested in this topic and are an English speaker, please contact the email address provided below.)
