Four doctoral students at the Sutnar Faculty, four perspectives on art and design. Michal Poustka, Zuzana Votrubcová, Dajana Kaska, and Michaela Šimonová will present their work in September at the Incubator Gallery, located in the building of the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen (FDU).
Michal Poustka has long explored the relationship between seeing, perception, and thought. Through photography, augmented reality, and virtual reality, he investigates how digital technologies can deepen the experience of presence and connect bodily perception with psychological experience.
Zuzana Votrubcová uses her project to test interim findings from research focused on an inclusive wayfinding system for Václav Havel Airport Prague. She examines how graphic design can make navigation more accessible to different passenger groups and improve their experience in the airport environment.
Dajana Kaska focuses on the accessibility of exhibition environments. Her research examines how to make them more understandable, predictable, and welcoming to different groups of visitors.
Michaela Šimonová combines artistic practice with historical and iconographic research. In her original photographs and drawing interventions, she explores changing representations of biblical women and their significance for contemporary understandings of femininity, identity, and social roles.
The Rozhraní / Interfaces exhibition series regularly presents the work of doctoral students at FDU and the diverse forms of artistic research in which the creative process also serves as a means of inquiry, experimentation, and testing proposed solutions. The new exhibition will open to visitors on Wednesday, 9 September, and will remain on view until 8 October. The opening reception will take place on Monday, 21 September at 4:00 p.m., during the first week of the winter semester. The exhibition is curated by Daniela Kramerová.
