Remote control of a Škoda Superb, robotic systems, and a student-built rover for Mars exploration – these technological innovations, which are currently transforming transportation, industry, and space research, will be presented by researchers from the University of West Bohemia (UWB) at Smart Mobility Day. The event will take place on Saturday, September 19, at the Holešovice Exhibition Grounds in Prague.

The Faculty of Applied Sciences will offer a demonstration of a smart assistant for backing up with a trailer or multiple trailers in a row, present the latest trends in traffic safety, and show how to stabilize a swaying load on a nearly two-meter-tall 3D-printed crane. Mini-drones called CrazyFlies will also be on display. 

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering will present its developments in autonomous systems and the practical study of modern electromobility. Visitors will have the chance to try remote-controlling a real Škoda Superb. On a special spinning bike, they’ll find out their maximum power output and how much electricity they can generate through their own effort. Also on display will be a mobile robotic platform with independent drive and four-wheel steering, enabling precise maneuvering.

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering will bring a robotic rover designed for Mars exploration. The rover is being developed by the UWB Robotics student team, which focuses on building a competition-ready robotic rover for simulated space missions. The team also introduces the public to topics in space exploration and robotics in an engaging way. Visitors will get a behind-the-scenes look at the team’s projects, activities, and technological solutions.
