The Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen (FDU UWB) will have a significant presence at this year's Finále Plzeň festival. Five short films produced by the faculty have been included in the main program, the Student Kingfisher award was designed by Lucie Procházková, a student of the Metal and Jewelry Studio, and the student jury is composed exclusively of representatives of the faculty. Out of twenty-one submitted titles, five films made it into the Special Screenings section and will be shown as pre-films to the evening screenings: Převtělení (Reincarnation) by Anežka Střelbová, It is all just packaging by Barbora Pavelcová, Noc (Night) by Prokop Sodomka, Cesta touhy (The Path of Desire) by Živan Novotný, and Domov (Home) by Anastasiya Skarko.

The Student Jury Award (Student Kingfisher) is created in cooperation between the festival and the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art. This year's design was created by Lucie Procházková from the Metal and Jewelry Studio. "For this year's Finále Plzeň festival, I created student awards inspired by the kingfisher – a bird that has become an icon of the festival as a sign of hope," said the author, adding: "In my design, I drew on the silhouette of the kingfisher, its characteristic coloring, and the dynamics of its movement. I translated this natural motif into geometric forms that create a stylized spatial composition."

"Candidates from all faculties of the University of West Bohemia could apply to participate in the juries, but coincidentally, all members of the student juries are from Sutnar Faculty," noted Hana Mašková from the Finále festival. The faculty is thus making its mark at the festival not only through its film and design work, but also in the evaluation of film production.

The Finále Plzeň festival will take place from September 26 to October 1 at Měšťanská beseda and other venues in Pilsen.
