The Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen invites you to a screening of the film Post Tenebras Lux on Wednesday, 23 September, at 8 p.m. The film follows a young family living in the Mexican countryside. In Post Tenebras Lux, their story gradually breaks apart into fragments of everyday life, memories, dreams, and violence. Autobiographical motifs are interwoven with images that resist a single, definitive reading and invite viewers to arrive at their own interpretation.
For this film, Mexican director Carlos Reygadas won the Best Director award at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. Reygadas is among the most prominent figures in contemporary Mexican cinema. Landscape, the body, memory, and time play an important role in his work. He develops his distinctive film language, in which reality blends with dream, in this film as well.
The outdoor screening at Sutnar Faculty is also an invitation to a shared evening under the open sky. Refreshments will be available on-site, and after the film, the program will continue with an afterparty featuring DJ Bowling.
