A glossy gallery full of iconic views. This is how North American nature is often portrayed in documentaries and photos. But the reality is much more raw and incredibly fascinating, says mountain adventurer Roman Žaloudek. During his talk, he will take listeners beyond the well-known tourist trails to places where unspoiled wilderness reigns supreme. He promises personal accounts of challenging mountain crossings, stories of unexpected encounters with wild animals, and insight into a world where comfort zones give way to a deep respect for nature. You can come and listen to him on Thursday, April 16, in the hall of the University Library of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. The lecture begins at 5:00 p.m. and, according to Roman Žaloudek, will not be a travelogue but an invitation to look beneath the surface of commercial tourism and discover the true, untamed face of North America.
Roman Žaloudek is a qualified IT professional, traveler, and mountaineer. As he himself says, he has been fortunate enough to travel to many countries both privately and professionally, live with his family in the USA for several years, and climb high mountains such as the Matterhorn, Alpamayo, Ama Dablam, and Cho Oyu (8,201 m). He has UIMLA International Mountain Guide status in the Czech Mountain Guides Association and has been working as a wilderness guide in the Šumava National Park program since the 2022 season.
