The final project exhibition is one of the few opportunities for visitors to experience the full scope of the work produced by students at the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. For the duration of this exhibition, Sutnarka will transform into a gallery for several days and showcase the semester projects of all 21 studios at the faculty. The works will be on display in the faculty building from Tuesday, June 2, through Tuesday, June 9. The final project exhibition opens with a public opening reception on Monday, June 1, at 4:00 p.m.
Among other things, this year’s final projects are linked by a faculty-wide theme commemorating what would have been Václav Havel’s 90th birthday. Students in the Book Design and Paper Shaping studio created original books inspired by Havel’s legacy, while the Interactive Design studio worked with his poetry collection Antikódy; works by students in the Animation, Comics and Illustration for Children, and Sculpture and Space studios also reflect inspiration drawn from Havel’s legacy. In addition to the Havel theme, several other semester projects were created: in the Product Design studio, students designed bicycle helmets made from sustainable materials; the Fashion Design studio explored the mask as a symbol of identity; and students in the Ceramic Design studio developed innovations based on the famous Sutnar porcelain dinner service.
The faculty will be open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. during the exhibition, and until 6:00 p.m. on the weekend of June 6 and 7. Admission is free.
