UWB Day: Science Live in Pilsen

University Public

Robots battling it out, a student race car, and laser technologies. Once again, the University of West Bohemia will take over Republic Square in Pilsen, offering a day full of experiments, technology, science, and fun for visitors of all ages.

Scientific experiments, modern technologies, interactive games, healthcare demonstrations, and student projects. Visitors can experience all this and much more at UWB Day at Republic Square in Pilsen on Friday, September 11. Around four dozen exhibits will be presented at a single location, giving visitors the chance to experience science firsthand, sometimes even on their own skin, discover technological innovations, and learn about projects developed at the university’s faculties and research centers.

Children and adults alike can look forward to robot battles and the popular PoseTwister, a student robotic mission to Mars, an electric Formula car, and the fascinating world of nanomaterials and plasma technologies. There will also be spectacular physics and chemistry experiments, demonstrations of laser technologies, and exhibits focused on renewable energy sources. Visitors can also try their hand at a mathematics playground or take part in a treasure hunt.

Visitors will also discover fields that help people in their everyday lives, from emergency medical services and rehabilitation to law and the social sciences. Archaeologists and computer scientists will also offer an engaging program, with interactive exhibits designed to appeal to both children and adults. E-textiles combining fashion and electronics will be on display, along with examples of the latest technological solutions developed at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen.

The square will come alive from the morning onwards. The UWB Day program will officially open at 9 a.m., with University Rector Miroslav Lávička joined by representatives of the City of Pilsen and the Pilsen Region. The program will continue with interviews with researchers and demonstrations both on stage and at individual stands. There will be competitions and, of course, music. The day will conclude at 5 p.m. with a concert by the Pilsen Student Symphony Orchestra.

ZČU Day continues the long-standing tradition of the Day of Science and Technology. Further details about the program and exhibits are available on the event website and on social media.
