UWB brought science to life in Klatovy

Dozens of experiments, art, and plenty of fun. After a year’s break, UWB once again filled Klatovy’s Peace Square with interactive exhibits and activities. UWB Day attracted not only local residents but also visitors from across the Klatovy region, including dozens of schools.

Science is all around us; it takes many forms, and it certainly does not have to be boring. That was the message clearly demonstrated by UWB Day in Klatovy. Children and adults from across the Klatovy region came to explore science firsthand and even try activities, such as first-aid training. In total, visitors could enjoy around thirty interactive exhibits.

On Peace Square, cans exploded, rubber “grenades” flew through the air, and visitors put their brains to the test. UWB showcased a student robotic mission to Mars, the quantum world in Minecraft, a board game as an alternative to a textbook, and living archaeology full of stories and discoveries. Visitors enjoyed a wide range of games and experiments, generated electricity by pedalling a bicycle, and travelled back through the history of computer games with the Gaming Through Time exhibit.

Those who were unable to attend the event in Klatovy need not worry. A photo gallery offers a chance to look back at UWB Day in June. And there is more to come: shortly after the summer holidays, the university will host another day full of science, technology, and art. This time, the exhibits will fill the centre of Pilsen, where UWB Day will take place on Thursday, 11 September.
