Press Release Applicant University
The most significant part of the University of West Bohemia on Pilsen's Open Day programme will take place on Tuesday, 27 January, in Pilsen. From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., all UWB faculties will open their doors, allowing secondary school students to tour classrooms, laboratories and student facilities. The programme will also include lecture blocks focused on entrance examinations and the application process. The exception is the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art, where the organised programme for applicants took place in November. Visitors can still view an exhibition of students’ semester projects there.
Applicants can choose from eight UWB faculties: the Faculty of Applied Sciences, the Faculty of Economics, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts, the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and the Faculty of Health Care Studies. On Sutnarka, it is still possible to apply to follow-up master's degree programmes. Detailed programmes for individual faculties are available on the UWB Open Day website. In addition to study options, the university will present student organisations, opportunities for study abroad, sports activities, and support for athletes.
More than six thousand people attended UWB Open Day last year, and the university expects similar interest again this year. For this reason, Pilsen city transport company will reinforce tram line number 4 throughout the day. Drivers are advised to use the P+R car park in the Bory area.
One day earlier, on Monday, 26 January, the UWB building in Cheb will also open its doors. It is home to the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Education. Applicants there can apply for Corporate Economics and Management, the international English-taught programme Management and Digital Technology, or Primary School Teaching. In Karlovy Vary on Wednesday, 28 January, those interested in spa services and balneology can visit the Kinantropology classrooms.
In the current academic year, the University of West Bohemia in Plzeň has nearly 13,000 students. It comprises nine faculties and one higher education institute. Across 64 departments, it offers around 300 study programmes. Last year, the greatest interest among applicants was in economics, teacher training, health care fields and law.
