Saxophonist, university cocktails in blue and – for the first time this year – two dance halls. On Friday, 20 March, Měšťanská beseda turned into the centre of university life. Tickets sold out within hours after going on sale in January, and the strong interest from both students and staff was clear from the dance floor, which filled up immediately after the opening dance performance.
The performance was prepared by dancers under the direction of Lukáš Kellner and Richard Ševčík, presenting choreography created especially to mark the 35th anniversary of the University of West Bohemia. Through movement, they took guests on an imaginary tour of all nine faculties of the university. The opening dance was followed by the band The Shifters, who got the main hall dancing with cover versions of well-known hits. The highlight of the evening came with a performance by Abba Stars, bringing the disco era back to life for the audience.
Alongside the main hall, a smaller space on the ground floor also came alive, transforming into a student party zone. DJ Pavel Janovský played sets throughout the evening, with saxophonist Kryštof Janáček joining at times.
