Where to after high school? How to choose the right field? And is college life really what people say it is? These are exactly the questions that the new Zvejšky podcast series, produced by SIT Port in collaboration with the University of West Bohemia, will address.
To look at college “from above” (z vejšky), that is, with a bird’s-eye view, but at the same time directly from within the college environment and through the eyes of those who are going through it themselves. That is the vision behind the
new SITPort podcast from the City of Pilsen, a collaboration between the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen and all of its faculties. Over the coming weeks, nine pairs of students from nine different faculties will take turns behind the microphone.
The podcast is primarily intended for high school students who are figuring out what to do after graduation, considering college, or seeking a sense of the opportunities the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen offers.
“The guests will be faculty ambassadors who will not only introduce the available majors but also explain what studying is really like, what students enjoy, what might surprise them, and what opportunities university opens up for them,” explained Aneta Chodorová from SITPort.
The podcast will be hosted by two high school students, Pepa Behenský and Denisa Jedličková. They will be the ones asking the questions that interest their peers: How hard is it to get into college? How much time does studying take? Is it possible to work while in college? What does a typical day in the life of a college student look like? And how should one decide when they don’t yet know exactly what they want to do?
New episodes will be released every month. The first episode will arrive in May and will feature an interview with representatives from the Faculty of Economics at the University of West Bohemia. Zvejšky will offer an authentic look at college, both up close and from a broader perspective, so that anyone currently facing an important decision can better navigate their options after graduation.
