Cooperation Students Science and research
On one side, the latest knowledge, innovations, and talented students; on the other, access to real-world problems, data, and the application of theories in practice – the result will be joint research and development teams composed of representatives from the University of West Bohemia and the company CSG Aerospace. CSGA develops and manufactures radars, air traffic management systems, air defense systems, and provides aircraft maintenance services.
Now, students of UWB will also have access to all of this. A significant part of the research teams' work will involve areas such as artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality, advanced sensors and sensor applications, as well as robotic and autonomous platforms.
The new collaboration already has very concrete outlines. Among the projects they will work on is, for instance, generating map data from European airspace. Students from technical or economic fields will also have the opportunity to work on an air traffic simulator and use it to create flight plans and automated flight scenarios.
The cooperation agreement was signed on Monday, January 27, by UWB Rector Miroslav Lávička, CSGA Vice President Bohuslav Přikryl, and CSGA COO Tomáš Vlček. The meeting was also attended by Vice-Rectors Jiří Hammerbauer (Science and Research) and Ján Váně (External Relations), who will oversee the practical implementation of the agreement. Additionally, Tomáš Richtr, COO of CS Soft, a company within the CSGA group, participated in the discussions.
"Thanks to UWB’s membership in the European alliance EUPeace, we can also offer collaboration with these international partners. Although the alliance is primarily focused on social sciences, the war in Ukraine clearly demonstrates that if we want to protect our values, we must also invest in technologies to defend our society," said UWB Rector Miroslav Lávička.
"We want to take full advantage of the opportunities provided by academia. In addition to contractual research collaboration, there are also scholarship programs where we can support students in both bachelor’s and master’s degree programs," said CSGA Vice President for Research, Development, and Innovation Bohuslav Přikryl. "Our portfolio, which we can offer UWB, is broad – ranging from software to aircraft maintenance," added COO Tomáš Vlček.
CSG Aerospace a.s. is part of the technology group Czechoslovak Group (CSG), which builds on the heritage of Czechoslovak industry. The group recently made headlines with a major overseas acquisition, in which a Czech company became the owner of the American group Kinetic.
