Competition Students Achievements

The 12th Pilsen Rescue Cup competition for students of Paramedical science was held this year by the Faculty of Health Care Studies UWB from 17 to 19 May in Prášily in the Klatovy region. Despite the bad weather, all competing teams managed to complete all of the cup tasks.

A three-member teams had to complete demanding tasks in the night and day stages, which tested their knowledge as well as their mental and physical endurance, at this year's Pilsen Rescue Cup. The competition has been organized since 2012 by the Department of paramedic science, medical diagnostics studies and public health of the Faculty of Health Care Studies UWB in Pilsen and was attended not only by students from the Czech Republic but also from Slovakia.

Each edition specializes in new findings in pre-hospital and hospital emergency care. This year, the task of the competitors was to find the correct solutions to model situations, verify the solution variants, evaluate patient behaviour, cooperate and communicate with other competitors and other components of the integrated rescue system.

There were 10 different model situations in the day stage and 2 in the night stage. During the day stage, the competitors faced situations such as an ATV accident, intoxication, burns, sudden deterioration of an elderly man's condition, a paraglider in the trees, and anaphylaxis followed by CPR.

Despite the bad weather all teams finished the competition and passed all the stations.
