IRON CASTING

The exhibition IRON CASTING presents the results of the work of students and teachers of the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art and their colleagues, which were created as part of the symposium Iron Casting and the workshop Cast Iron Experiment.

Since 2015, the International Symposium of Iron Casting has been organised by the Department of Sculpture of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Banská Bystrica. The symposium offers participants the opportunity to experiment with different types of models made of wax, polystyrene, plasticine or plaster, to process various found objects or to create using 3D printing from PLA plastics. The students' creativity in the field of technological processes will be matched by diversity in the concept of the work and its form. In September 2023, representatives of the Metalworking and Jewellery Studio under the direction of Martin Verner worked with cast iron in Banská Bystrica. The works of students Josefina Urbánková, Sára Pátová, Namuunaa Ganbaatar and Lucie Gloziková can be seen at the exhibition.

Other exhibited works come from the Experiment with Cast Iron workshop. Martin Verner, Richard Rulf and Adéla Marie Dařbujánová from the Metalworking and Jewellery Studio and Daniel Doležal and Josef Hakl from the Sculpture and Space Studio took part in the April workshop. They worked together with Mia Čopíková from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava and Jakub Cmark from the Academy of Fine Arts in Banská Bystrica. Every year, teachers Jan Krtička and Robert Vlasák from the Natural Materials Studio of the Faculty of Art and Design at Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem give students the opportunity to work with traditional and non-traditional materials and try out a range of technological processes.
