The University of West Bohemia in Pilsen now has representation in the Government Council for Non-Governmental Organizations (RVNNO). Dita Hommerová from the Faculty of Economics was elected for a four-year term. Her nomination was approved by the Czech government on December 4.

The appointment of UWB's representative to RVNNO, in the position representing universities and research institutes, strengthens the position of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen in both academic and professional spheres. The main task of the Government Council for Non-Governmental Non-Profit Organizations is to create a suitable environment for the operation of non-profit organizations in the Czech Republic. It serves as an advisory, initiative, and coordinating body of the government, chaired by Prime Minister Petr Fiala. The Council also submits materials to the government concerning non-governmental non-profit organizations and provides opinions on legislation.

"I am incredibly happy about this, as the non-profit sector is not only my professional choice but also a matter close to my heart. It will be an honor to contribute to the non-profit sector at a national strategic level," said Dita Hommerová regarding her nomination. As part of the selection process, she identified specific needs within RVNNO, particularly in marketing management and communication, where she will offer her expertise. "Volunteering and private donor issues will also be a priority for me. I am convinced that my membership in RVNNO will benefit both the Faculty of Economics and the entire UWB. Until now, my scientific and research activities in the non-profit sector have been interdisciplinary, spanning across UWB faculties and other universities in the Czech Republic and abroad, and I would like to further develop this trend and style of collaboration," she added.

The appointment of Associate Professor Dita Hommerová to the Government Council for Non-Governmental Non-Profit Organizations was also praised by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics at UWB, Michaela Krechovská. "I believe that in this role, she will be able to leverage her extensive experience in the field of non-profit organizations, which she has been dedicated to for a long time. The appointment of Associate Professor Hommerová to the Government Council for Non-Profit Organizations is a tremendous professional success, not only for her personally but also for the Faculty of Economics and the entire University of West Bohemia," said Dean Krechovská.

The Government Council for Non-Governmental Non-Profit Organizations prepares materials and proposals that help the government make decisions about supporting non-profit organizations – such as legislative changes or policy measures affecting their operations. The Council also facilitates cooperation among ministries, offices, and regions to better support the non-profit sector collectively, for instance in allocating subsidies from public budgets. Additionally, the Council monitors and analyzes the state of non-profit organizations within the European Union. It focuses on how the Czech Republic engages in EU programs and explores funding opportunities from European funds available to Czech non-profits.
