May the best man win! Isn't it? Reese Witherspoon stars in the American student comedy... High school senior Tracy Flick (Reese Witherspoon) is a model high school student. She's a model, initiative, ambition and coldly manipulative of her surroundings, whether it's her classmates or her teachers. Professor McAllister (Matthew Broderick) hates her, but is simultaneously attracted to her, even though he knows she's playing with fire. When the teacher discovers that Tracy plans to add the title of school president to her trophies in the upcoming student elections, he decides to create the proper competition for her... This year, movie nights at the University Library include films from the "American High School Comedy Series" and you'll be able to watch how American high school has changed through the generations. The first film takes a peek into the world of Generation X, while the next two movie nights belong to Generations Z and Z-Alpha. The screening will conclude with a fourth film looking into the world of the youngest generation, Generation Z-Beta.

After the film Fast Times at Ridgemont High, you can look forward to the following films:

March 19 Election (1999)
April 14 Superbad (2007)
May 7 Bottoms (2023)

The films will be screened in collaboration with the American Center in Plzeň in English with English subtitles, and each screening will be introduced in English by Bradley Vice, a lecturer at the Faculty of Education specializing in American literature. The screenings will take place in the American Center Pilsen, Univerzitní 22, room UU309 starting at 5:00 p.m.
