International Students University
The largest number of international students in the 2024/25 academic year came to UWB from Spain, France, Portugal, and Italy. They most often attended the Faculty of Economics, the Faculty of Philosophy, and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Nearly 170 international students spent the winter semester in Pilsen, with 40 of them continuing into the summer semester. In February, they were joined by almost another hundred newly arrived students.
This year’s Farewell Dinner, an annual celebration and symbolic conclusion of the academic year for international students, their teachers, classmates, and friends they made during their studies, was held on Wednesday, May 21 in the university canteen at the Bory campus. A total of about 100 guests attended the event, including 80 international students.
"I really appreciated the attitude of the teachers at the Faculty of Philosophy and the overall quality of education at the University of West Bohemia. Pilsen is a great city for students — life here is high-quality, and everything I experienced here has been valuable for me. I’ll definitely remember it fondly," said Isinsu Kubat from Yalova University in Turkey.
“For many students, this was their last chance to meet with the friends they made during their time in the Czech Republic. The informal program created space for sharing memories, saying thank you, and saying goodbye before heading home,” said Eva Kotoučová from UWB’s International Office.
The event was organized by the International Office in cooperation with the Erasmus Student Network UWB Pilsen (ESN UWB Pilsen), whose members support the integration of international students into university life throughout the year — from the initial Welcome Week to the final farewell.
In cooperation with ESN UWB Pilsen, international students also participate in the In Schools project, where they visit elementary and high schools to introduce pupils to their countries, cultures, and personal experiences of studying abroad. The project fosters intercultural dialogue and aims to inspire young students to pursue their own international study opportunities.
International students at UWB can also take part in various leisure activities, including popular pub quizzes, themed Cultural Evenings, and trips around the Czech Republic.
