UWB stands with Ukraine

Press Release University

The University of West Bohemia has set up a helpline for its Ukrainian students and staff and is getting ready for the arrival of other students from Ukraine.

"We unequivocally condemn the military attack by the Russian Federation on Ukraine and wish to express our solidarity with all Ukrainian people, including students and academics, whether they be in their home country or living in the Czech Republic," UWB Rector Miroslav Holeček said on behalf of UWB leadership.

There are currently 114 Ukrainian students studying and 17 academic and non-academic Ukrainian staff working at UWB. Any of them may use the email support which UWB has set up for them for this purpose at info4ua@service.zcu.cz.

The University of West Bohemia is also prepared to accept Ukrainian students and academics who have found themselves in dire straits as a result of the military conflict in Ukraine. The university will provide them with free accommodation at the student hostel and a Czech language course. During the ongoing admissions procedure, these students can submit an application for a study program of their choice, which they can enroll in next academic year.

As an expression of its support for Ukraine, the University of West Bohemia has raised the Ukrainian flag on its Bory campus.
