In the second half of May, the hall of the University Library of UWB in Bory will come alive with works by students of the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art. The library will present works created as part of the prestigious international FIGURAMA26 project, led by Boris Jirků and Martin Prachař. The exhibition will open with a vernissage on Monday, May 18, at 5:30 p.m., and the works of Sutnar students will be on display through July 10.
FIGURAMA is a unique international project that, since 2000, has documented and supported the teaching of figurative art (drawing, painting, and sculpture) and various approaches to it at European art schools. Each year, a catalog is published featuring around three hundred of the best student works, individual schools, and works by faculty members who teach figurative art. The FIGURAMA project includes roughly 6 to 10 exhibitions, various workshops, lectures, and symposia each year. It also features the presentation of the European Egon Schiele Prize. According to the FIGURAMA website, more than two dozen universities have participated in the project over the past 23 years. In recent years, the FIGURAMA exhibitions have also been organized by painter, sculptor, and illustrator Boris Jirků. He taught figure drawing and painting at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague and later at the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, where he served as a professor until his death in January 2026.
