To mark the 80th anniversary of Pilsen’s liberation and the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, we invite you to an international workshop on freedom, scientific cooperation, and transatlantic ties—from historical context to current CZ–US opportunities.

 The event, organized by the NTC Research Centre in cooperation with the American Center and the Faculty of Arts, will be moderated by journalist Pavlína Horáková.

Program highlights:

  • History and Liberation – Roman Kodet (Faculty of Arts, University of West Bohemia).
  • Education and Scientific Mobility – Daniela Lukavská (American Center Pilsen) and Jaroslav Miller (Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports – tbc) will present opportunities for studying in the US.
  • Science Diplomacy and International Cooperation – Michael Žantovský (writer, diplomat, and former spokesperson for President Václav Havel) and Jan Chmelík, Science Attaché at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Washington, D.C. will speak on CZ–US relations in science and culture.
  • Quantum Technologies – Petr Kavalíř (NTC UWB) and Miloš Nesládek (Hasselt University) will present quantum research and applications.

 

The workshop will be in English and run from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Light refreshments will be available during breaks.
