Looking to take your video production skills to the next level? The ArtCamp summer school at the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art at the University of West Bohemia offers an exciting opportunity for those who already have basic experience with camera work and editing. The Video Production course, led by Lukáš Kellner, goes beyond working with professional equipment—it gives participants the chance to experiment with advanced technologies, including slow motion filming using the Phantom 4K/1000 fps camera in the professional Multilab studio.
“The Video Production course is intended primarily for more advanced creators,” explained Lukáš Kellner. “From my perspective, it would be great if those applying had at least a basic technical skillset—either in using a camera or working with editing software. I can help with some technical basics as well, but the workshop is designed for those who already have at least some foundational knowledge.” He added that “The course will appeal to a wide range of participants—from content creators for social media, to applicants preparing for audiovisual studies, to passionate amateurs eager to explore new technologies.”
The practical part of the course focuses on high-speed image capture technology using the professional Phantom 4K/1000 fps camera. Participants will create slow motion sequences using physical materials and assemble them into short musical or artistic video projects.
“We have top-of-the-line equipment available here, including a high-speed camera for slow motion shots,” said Kellner. “In our course, we’ll shoot slow motion videos, and the plan is for students from the Soundart course, led by my colleague Ondřej Líbal, to help us with the sound design.”
Participants in the course will deepen their knowledge of video production across its full spectrum. They will explore various formats and applications of video in different fields—such as documentary, music video, product video, aftermovie, reportage, and event recording—as well as technical approaches ranging from sports and journalistic coverage to live broadcasting. Prospective students aiming for admission to art universities will also appreciate the opportunity to consult their portfolios and previous work directly with an industry professional.
Lukáš Kellner describes the Multilab studio, where the course takes place, as one of the largest and best-equipped spaces at the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art. It’s a facility that can also be used by other university departments and faculty members:
“It’s possible to host a wide range of events here—from theatrical performances and concerts to lectures and conferences. The technical infrastructure is excellent, including a green screen for video production and equipment for music production,” he said.
Participants will also have access to the recording room used by the university radio station Wéčko, which is equipped for high-quality audio recording, including podcasts and soundtracks. In addition, the XR Lab will be available—an innovative space dedicated to augmented reality projects, led by doctoral student Michal Poustka.
What to Bring
To fully engage in the course, participants should bring their own video recording device (camera, DSLR, or smartphone) that they know how to operate. A computer lab equipped with Adobe Premiere Pro will be available—at least a basic knowledge of this software is required. Alternatively, participants are welcome to bring their own laptop with a preferred editing program (such as CapCut, DaVinci Resolve, etc.).
Don’t miss the chance to explore new technologies and expand your creative potential under the guidance of a professional. The Video Production course will take place at the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art, University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, from July 21 to 25 as part of the ArtCamp summer school.
