Sport Students Achievements

Martin Lorenc, a student at the Faculty of Education at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, participated in the European University Championships in combat sports under the banner of EUSA – the European University Sports Association. He specializes in K1 kickboxing, where he won a gold medal

The combat sports championship took place on August 21–25 in Warsaw, Poland. The program included four disciplines: judo, karate, taekwondo, and kickboxing, in which Martin Lorenc, a student at the Faculty of Education at the University of West Bohemia, competed in the weight category up to 86 kg alongside seven other fighters. "I wasn't very lucky with the draw and had three tough fights ahead of me, including the final. I managed to defeat the Turkish representative in the first round of the quarterfinals, and in the semifinals I faced an experienced Montenegrin fighter from the professional ring, whom I clearly defeated after three tough rounds. In the finals, I faced an even more experienced Croatian fighter, who had twice placed third in the Muay Thai World Championships, but I managed to defeat him as well," said the student, who was the only representative of the University of West Bohemia at the EUSA championship.

Martin Lorenc is a future physical education teacher who trains at the Atom club in Pilsen. He is a member of the Czech national team and has competed in 32 matches, winning 24 of them. His greatest achievements include the title of Czech Champion (2020 and 2022) and the European Cup title in Croatia (2025). He has been kickboxing for five years.

"Martin has also tasted the professional ring, where the rules are a little different. Here he has three wins and one loss to his name. This year, he is planning to represent the Czech Republic at the World Championships in Abu Dhabi," added Ondřej Vodrážka from the Institute of Physical Education and Sport at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen.
