The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering presented at the Czech-Bavarian Smart Region meeting

The meeting was focused on connecting representatives from Czech and Bavarian institutions to discuss potential joint projects in the areas of smart energy and mobility. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has long been focused on energy topics, particularly hydrogen technologies.

The Czech-Bavarian Smart Region is an informal group of company representatives, municipalities, scientific institutions, and municipal politicians working to connect smart solutions on both sides of the border. There were representatives of the faculties of mechanical engineering, economics and law of the April meeting, which took place on April 23-24 in Upper Franconia. Participants first visited the energy park in Wunsiedel, where they toured facilities focused on hydrogen production, energy, and pellet manufacturing.

At the House of Energy Future, projects focused on the energy of the future were presented. Šárka Kuthanová from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering introduced the new Hydromun project, aimed at creating a joint Czech-Bavarian platform for hydrogen technologies. The University of West Bohemia in Pilsen is collaborating on this project with the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, the University of Regensburg, and the Bavarian company Es geht!

Then the meeting moved to Kronach, where a tour of a testing field for autonomous mobility was on the agenda. The event concluded in Hof with a presentation on municipal data management.
