I would like to take part in the Olympics in Los Angeles, says Olympian Jan Louda

Sport Study Students

For badminton player Jan Louda, participation in this year's Olympic Games was the highlight of his sporting career. He is satisfied with his 14th place in the men's singles. He is pleased that he managed to equal the Czech record in this discipline after thirty-two years.

Student of ZČU Jan Louda faced an opponent from El Salvador and the 10th-seeded player from Singapore in Group M, where he was assigned by lot. It was during the match with the Singaporean opponent that Honza felt a lot of nervousness. In retrospect, he would have advised himself to enjoy the game more. The Olympic Games are a dream come true and an excellent experience for him. "You live in the Olympic Village and share the experience with other athletes. Even though I play an individual sport, I really felt the mutual support in the Czech team," added the talented athlete. The opportunity to play in a packed arena for eight thousand spectators also evoked strong emotions in him. "Although I tried to stay calm, I have to admit that I was a bit nervous," said Honza.

He is grateful to the teachers at the faculty for allowing him to combine professional sports with his studies with a friendly attitude. For those who want to start with badminton, he would recommend not to be afraid to try badminton and enroll in this subject at the Department of Physical Education and Sport, or go to play, for example, in the new city hall in Krašovská in Pilsen, where he himself also trains.

The talented badminton player and a student of Artificial Intelligence and Automation at the Faculty of Applied Sciences (FAV) of ZČU mentioned not only his sporting plans for the future - he wants to finish his engineering studies and would like to play at the 2028 Olympic Games hosted by Los Angeles. "It means four more years of hard work in my sporting career," concluded Honza.

Jan Louda was invited by the Dean of the Faculty to a personal meeting. Unfortunately, Honza was ill at the time. Hopefully there will be another opportunity to visit the dean in the future.
