Under the auspices of the European University Sports Association, the European University Volleyball Championship will be held in Budapest from July 26 to August 4. The University of West Bohemia in Pilsen has sent a men's team.

With 16 women's and 14 men's teams participating, the Czech Republic is represented by female students from Masaryk University in Brno and male students from the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. "It should be noted that both teams earned this opportunity by winning the university volleyball league last year," explained Ondřej Vodrážka from the Department of Physical Education and Sport at the University of West Bohemia.

The University of West Bohemia students will face the University of Bergen in Norway and the Turkish University of Fenerbahce Istanbul in the preliminary round. The top two teams from the group will advance to the quarterfinals, while the third will play for placement.

"The mood in the team is excellent. Although there was no opportunity for joint training during the summer holidays, we managed to have at least one training session before the opening match against Norway," said Ondřej Vodrážka, who leads the UWB team together with Daniel Sys.

The matches can also be watched via online stream here.
