13 law firms of different specialisations and inquisitive law students. This is what the ELSA Job Fair 2024 looked like. Students of the Faculty of Law at UWB had the opportunity to get acquainted with various job opportunities in the field of law and public administration.

The Faculty of Law of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen (FPR UWB) hosted the traditional job fair, also known as the ELSA Job Fair. The event took place on 5-6 November in the premises of the FPR in the Fifty-three Gardens. The students had a unique opportunity to meet representatives of leading law firms, the Prison Service and the Security and Information Service (BIS) and learn about the activities of these organizations.

The fair was attended by 13 law firms of various sizes and specialisations. They presented a wide range of job opportunities to the students and shared their experience from practice. The event was designed for students looking for their first work experience, as well as for those who wanted to take a look behind the scenes of advocacy and the functioning of law firms. Students could personally talk to representatives of these organizations at their individual stands about their activities, learn more about their job description, employment conditions and also obtain various promotional materials.

An integral part of both days was a programme called TALKS, which was a joint meeting between students and representatives of the participating organisations. At this meeting, interested students had the opportunity to ask additional questions, for example, how the selection process takes place in a particular law firm or what requirements are placed on candidates. "It was great to see how the students got involved. They were not afraid to ask questions and at the same time enjoyed the informal atmosphere," said one of the event organisers, Marek Verčimák, Vice President for Professional Development at ELSA Plzeň. "I liked that we could get clear answers to our questions. The discussion was fun and at the same time beneficial," Matyáš Vlk, a first-year FPR student, shared his impression.

"The ELSA Job Fair is already a tradition. For me, it is always a unique opportunity to connect practice with theory directly on the faculty's premises," concluded ELSA Plzeň President Jan Brůžek.
