You can develop not only creativity at Sutnar Faculty autumn courses

FDU Public Education

At a time when technology and AI can handle routine tasks, human creativity remains one of the most valuable skills. The Sutnar Faculty offers courses that develop the ability to think critically, experiment, and seek new paths – key skills not only for artists and designers.

The Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen (FDU UWB) is once again opening autumn courses for the public in September, whose greatest asset is not only professionally equipped studios, but especially top-notch experts who guide course participants toward developing critical thinking and experimentation.

This year's novelty is the course Material as Experiment, designed for everyone who wants to develop their ability to experiment. Participants will learn to think about material as a creative medium and master techniques for working with natural and artificial materials. Sculptor Daniel Doležal will teach participants, among other things, how to choose material suitable for their artistic intention.

Those who master the basics of graphic programs can take advantage of the last available spots in the course Principles of Graphic Design and Typography. The course develops design thinking and a creative approach to visual communication. Under the guidance of instructor Pavel Švejda, who has long worked at the Department of Graphic Design and Illustration, participants will learn to comprehensively design and create effective visual communications.

Remaining available spots can also be utilized by those interested in art history. The course Czech Post-War Art offers systematic insight into Czechoslovak visual art from 1945 to the end of the 1960s, when the Czech art scene was being formed in the tension between ideological pressures and the desire for international context. The lecture series develops critical thinking and the ability to analyze works of art in the context of their time. The lectures are given by Andrea Sloupová, head of the Department of Art Theory and History.

Take advantage of the opportunity to fill the last available spots – the application deadline is September 9th, and courses begin in the week of September 15th.
