With the outbreak of war in Ukraine on 24 February 2022, cultural and educational institutions across Europe launched new programs and opportunities that support artists who were forced to relocate. In response, during the last six months curator Jan Van Woensel developed the project зараз.

Two artists and one curator have been selected out of an open call that received more than 150 portfolios and applications. The Kyiv-based Mariia Ralemska, Alyona Tokovenko and Kateryna Tsyhykalo are the зараз artists and curator in residency, and will work in Pilsen on site specific projects, artworks and research between August and October. For this occasion, throughout September the Ladislav Sutnar Gallery will transform in their temporary studio and presents the audience an exhibition-in-progress, a project that evolves and changes according to the development of the residents’ work.
Throughout September, you are invited to pay a visit to the emerging artists and curator from Ukraine in the Ladislav Sutnar Gallery, to engage in dialogue with themand learn more about their art and ideas.
