The University of West Bohemia invites you to the Open Day of all faculties in Pilsen and Cheb

Press Release University Public

On Monday, January 29th, the University of West Bohemia invites you to Cheb and to the live broadcast from the campus. On Tuesday, January 30th, visit the buildings of all faculties in Pilsen.
Once again, after a year, prospective applicants and the general public will have the opportunity to get a close look at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen (UWB). On January 29th and 30th, another edition of the Open Day is scheduled, during which all nine faculties of UWB will be presented, not only in the campus and center of Pilsen but also at the branch in Cheb.

On Monday, January 29th, the doors of the UWB building in Cheb will open first. From 10 am to 12 pm, the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Education will be presented. In addition to the study offerings, visitors will also have the opportunity to explore the building at Hradební Street 22, the facilities for students, and the environment of the local library.

The program of the Open Day will continue in the evening, starting at 6:00 pm, with a traditional live broadcast from the UWB campus on the YouTube channel. The approximately one and a quarter-hour broadcast will include interviews with the rector Miroslav Lávička, as well as with students, and a series of videos created specifically for this occasion, introducing individual faculties. The broadcast will cover the essential aspects of UWB and invite attendance on the following day.

The University Library will again transform into a studio during the broadcast, and viewers can ask questions in the chat throughout the transmission. An interesting technical feature is that, in addition to the host, an artificially generated voice will address the audience.
On Tuesday, January 30th, the main program of the Open Day will take place from 8 am to 3 pm. The doors of all faculties located on the UWB campus in Bory fields will open, including the Faculties of Applied Sciences, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Economics, as well as the faculties in the city center – the Faculties of Education, Arts, Law, and Health Care Studies. Each faculty has prepared its own program, including the Faculty of Design and Art Ladislav Sutnar, which already had its Open Day in the fall and entrance exams for the first-year bachelor's program last week but still invites the public to tour the building and view an exhibition of its students' final projects. Other parts and departments of UWB, such as the Language Preparation Institute, will also be presented.

Given the tragic events at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in December, ensuring the maximum possible safety for anyone attending the Open Day, including teachers and students, is a crucial topic. Therefore, police will oversee the UWB buildings in Pilsen and Cheb, as they did in December.

For transportation to the UWB campus, we recommend using tram line No. 4 (stops Technická or Univerzita) or bus lines No. 30 or 24.
Some faculty partners will also present themselves in the buildings during the Open Day. Refreshments will be provided. For example, in the University 22 building, where the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the Faculty of Economics are located, the public can visit the recently reopened Campus Café, and other cafes and buffets can be found in the buildings of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, and the University Library.

In the current academic year 2023/2024, the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen has nearly 12,000 students and over 2,000 academic and non-academic staff. It consists of nine faculties and two university institutes, offering 310 study programs across 64 departments, with over 70 scientific, research, and development teams.
