Cooperation University Public

The Mass in the Cathedral of St. Bartholomew was celebrated by the bishop of Pilsen, Tomáš Holub. Speeches were also given by the rector of the University of West Bohemia, Miroslav Lávička, and the rector of Charles University, Milena Králíčková.
On Tuesday, January 30, the day when Milena Králíčková, the rector of Charles University, and Eva Lehečková, the dean of the Faculty of Arts, placed their last offerings into the memorial fire at Jan Palach Square, concluding the four-week Month for the Faculty, the University of West Bohemia also paid tribute to the memory of the victims of the December tragedy.

The Requiem Mass took place in the Cathedral of St. Bartholomew. It was initiated by the chamber orchestra Consortium musicum, affiliated with the Faculty of Education at the University of West Bohemia, and the choral ensemble Collegium for Spiritual Music Klatovy, some of whose members studied or are currently studying at the Faculty of Arts in Prague. Two members studied directly at the Institute of Musicology, led by Lenka Hlávková, who tragically lost her life in the attack.

The Mass, accompanied by compositions such as Missa pro defuncto Archiepiscopo by Johann Michael Haydn, was celebrated by Bishop Tomáš Holub of Pilsen. The event was held under the auspices of Rector Miroslav Lávička of the University of West Bohemia, in collaboration with the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Pavel Mentlík, and the Dean of the Faculty of Arts at the University of West Bohemia, David Šanc. Also in attendance were Rector Milena Králíčková of Charles University and Dean Jindřich Fínek of the Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen at Charles University.

Rector Miroslav Lávička and Rector Milena Králíčková had the concluding remarks. The cathedral was filled with students, employees of the University of West Bohemia, students of Charles University, and the general public. We express gratitude to all who came to honor the memory of the victims at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University.
