Cooperation Students University
Despite closed universities and impenetrable borders, we gathered in May as every year for a joint Czech-Bavarian workshop. Students from various disciplines of the University of West Bohemia enrolled in the certificate programme Competences for the Czech-Bavarian Border Region and German students of the similar programme Kompetenzen für die bayerisch-tschechische Grenzregion at the Universität Regensburg presented topics of cross-border interaction in the field of common history, language and law, border culture, projects and current pandemic challenges on the labour market.
Thanks to the excellent presentations we know again more about the route of the Rhine or Golden Trail, what the Green Roof of Europe is, how the Tachov-Bärnau Historical Park is growing or how the work of firefighters on the Czech and Bavarian side is comparable. In addition, we had the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of the Neighbours' Week, which was currently taking place in Schwandorf. The guests at this year's meeting were journalist Karl Reitmeier and Robert Jodlbauer from the association EUREGIO EGRENSIS: A living space with a future and a history.
The workshop was held online this year, so we had to shed a tear when we remembered the various excursions in the past years, when we had informally ended the meeting, for example, over a beer at the Treffpunkt festival in DEPO2015 in Pilsen. Hopefully we will be lucky next year! Follow the latest information on Facebook Czech Republic Bavaria.
Thanks to the workshop organizer Dr. Kenneth Hanshew and the supervisors Prof. Mark Nekul on the German side and Dr. Daniela Blahutková on the Czech side.
