Linda Suchá, a leading Czech triple jumper from the Škoda Plzeň club and a student at the UWB Faculty of Education, with a personal best of 13.84 m, fully lived up to her potential at the Universiade by winning the silver medal in the women’s triple jump final. Her performance ranks among the greatest individual achievements of the Czech academic delegation on the athletics track in Bochum. Earlier this year, she also competed at the European Indoor Championships and the recent European Team Championships.
Tomáš Němejc, a student at the UWB Faculty of Law and one of the top Czech sprinters who also competed at the Summer Olympics in Paris, did not manage to match his personal best of 20.52 this time. In a strong field of international athletes, he finished 11th, narrowly missing a spot in the final by just milliseconds.
Martina Zikmundová, from the UWB Faculty of Economics placed joint 17th in the women’s archery competition. She won her first-round match against a Malaysian opponent with a score of 144–137, but was narrowly defeated in the second round by a French archer, 141–142.
