Students from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering succeeded in the national competition of theses

Competition Students Achievements

In the 21st edition of the Czech Transport Construction, Technology, Innovation competition, Martin Stejskal and Lukáš Klimeček from the Department of Machine Design at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of West Bohemia (ZČU) celebrated awards for their work.

The competition for the best annual, bachelor's, or master's thesis in the field of transportation and transport engineering is announced annually by Top Expo company with the goal of supporting the study of technical fields at universities, preparing the young generation for Industry 4.0, and, last but not least, providing students with contacts with practice and future employers. The results for the year 2023 were announced at a gala evening on June 25 in the Fant Hall in Prague.

As every year, the best works were awarded by rectors and deans of the participating universities. Besides the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen (ZČU), other participants included the Czech Technical University in Prague, Brno University of Technology, the Technical University of Liberec, the University of Pardubice, and the Technical University of Ostrava.

This time, the expert jury, which included Jan Hlaváč from the Department of Machine Design at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering ZČU (FST), awarded the ZČU Rector's Prize to Martin Stejskal, who entered the competition with his master's thesis titled Optimization of Interior Handle Design Using New Materials and Technologies. The award was presented by Jiří Hammerbauer, Vice-Rector for Creative Activities and Doctoral Studies at ZČU, and was accepted on behalf of the absent Martin Stejskal by FST student Adam Babka.

Lukáš Klimeček received the Dean's Award of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering ZČU for his master's thesis on the Dynamic Behavior of Engine Components. He was also unable to attend the gala, so the award was accepted on his behalf by his colleague Matouš Tomšovský from the hands of FST Vice-Dean for Educational Activities, Václav Vaněk.

Congratulations to both awarded students, who thus continue the success of their predecessors, such as Martin Zeman in 2020 or Jan Tuka in 2019.
