Competition Achievements Public
The Mathematical Olympiad, the oldest subject competition, has completed its 73rd year. Every year, the Faculty of Applied Sciences of the University of West Bohemia hosts its successful solvers who take the first six places and receive diplomas and prizes from university representatives and other prominent personalities at its headquarters. This year was no different.
They were the most successful in five competition categories:
Category Z9: shared first place went to Valentin Koshan, Gymnázium J. Vrchlického Klatovy, and Daniel Osoba, Gymnázium Plzeň, Mikulášské náměstí.
Category P: Šimon Stehlík, Masaryk Gymnasium, Pilsen
Category C: Jan Dubišár, Gymnasium Pilsen, Mikulášské náměstí
Category B: Jakub Toupal, Gymnasium Pilsen, Mikulášské náměstí
Category A: Miroslav Holeček, Masaryk Gymnasium, Pilsen
This year's award ceremony was attended by representatives of the departments, including the Dean of the Faculty, Miloš Železný, and the Vice-Dean for Studies and Teaching, Libor Váša. Jiří Hammerbauer, Vice-Rector for Creative Activities and Doctoral Studies, and Naďa Kubešová, Chairwoman of the Regional Commission of the Mathematical Olympiad, also spoke to the attendees. Many members of the academic community and the Union of Czech Mathematicians and Physicists, headed by the chairman of its Pilsen branch, Tomáš Kaiser, did not miss the opportunity to meet the successful solvers of the regional round. Ludmila Novotná, a representative of the Department of Education, Youth and Sport of the Pilsen Regional Office, also came to express her support for the competition and especially for the winners.
We congratulate all the winners and thank those who participated in the organization of the regional round of the Mathematical Olympiad. In addition to them, thanks go to the teachers who guide and prepare them for mathematics, the teachers from the Department of Mathematics who prepare professional lectures for them, and last but not least to their parents.
