Applicants can still apply to study programs at six faculties of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen during July and August. The second round of admissions is open at all three technical faculties, as well as the faculties of Economics, Arts, and Health Care Studies.

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FEL) is launching the second round of admissions this summer with a new offer. In September, it will open a new specialization in Nuclear Engineering Management within its follow-up master’s programs, responding to the growing demand for nuclear experts in the Czech Republic. In addition to that, FEL continues to accept applications for all its bachelor’s and follow-up master’s programs, including Electromobility and Intelligent Transport Systems or Electrical Engineering and Information Technology. The application deadline is August 10.

Applicants now also have until August 8 to apply for the program Mathematics with a focus on Secondary Education. “We are responding to the shortage of secondary school math teachers and the needs of schools in the region,” said Gabriela Holubová, Head of the Department of Mathematics at the Faculty of Applied Sciences (FAV). Other FAV programs, such as Applied Physics, Geomatics, or Computer Modelling in Mechanics, remain open for applications until August 15.

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FST) has also opened all its study programs for the second round. It already recorded an increase in applications during the first round. “Mechanical engineering is not an easy field, and students are sometimes wary of the math and physics involved. But if they engage with the material, attend lectures, and are not afraid to ask when they don’t understand something, they have a strong chance of passing the exams,” said FST Dean Vladimír Duchek. The application deadline is August 4.

The Faculty of Philosophy is accepting applications for the second round through the end of August. As in previous years, the most interest is in the International Relations – Area Studies program. However, the faculty also offers History, Foreign Languages for Commercial Practice, and Archaeology.

The Faculty of Economics continues to accept applications at both its Pilsen and Cheb campuses. Until the end of July, applicants can choose from Business Economics and Management, Project Management, or last year’s newcomer Management and Digital Technology.

The Faculty of Health Care Studies (FZS) has joined the five previously announced faculties participating in the second round of admissions. Until July 21, applicants can apply for the bachelor’s program in General Nursing. “Our decision to open a second round was driven mainly by the ongoing social demand for qualified general nurses. There’s a long-term shortage of staff, and the system is waiting for them,” explained FZS Vice-Dean Hana Voltrová.
