Musical archaeology can look back on almost a century of research history, that is the title of the lecture organized by the Department of Archaeology. Originally, experts examined archaeological finds of musical instruments and the contexts in which they were found. In the meantime, however, research has expanded to include the study of acoustics, psychoacoustic parameters and their effects on humans, as well as research into spatial acoustics, the chemical composition of materials, experimental production, playing the instrument and the role of music in society.
The lecture in English will introduce listeners to the multidisciplinary nature of musical archaeology.
