The reconstruction and production of musical instruments through experimentation is part of one of the archaeological subdisciplines known as experimental archaeology. Experiments with musical instruments require basic knowledge of acoustics, materials and instruments, as well as considerable craftsmanship. This is not all that the audience can see in the lecture "Constructing Musical Instruments in Experiment".
