How do research ideas become real-world solutions—and what can they bring to the region? Find out at Smart Region Forum 2026, taking place on 22 October at TechTower in Pilsen.

Organised by the Pilsen Region, the one-day forum will bring together companies, researchers, academia, the public sector and young talent. Experts from the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen will share their experience of turning research into practice. Jakub Schusser (NTC) will talk about his return from research abroad and his work on new materials; František Mach (FEL) will present the smart water management project nextdrop; Jan Švec (FAV) will discuss cybernetics and cooperation with Aimtec; and Jiří Vrána (NTC) will introduce the battery energy storage startup Pinflow Energy.

The Experience Zone will showcase UWB technologies and projects, including DigiDiaDem, an application designed to detect early signs of dementia.

The forum will also see the first presentation of the Pilsen Region Innovation of the Year Award. Nominations are open until 30 September.
