Free spots at the ArtCamp summer school are disappearing quickly, sign up early

Further Education Applicant Public

Two hundred places were filled on the first day of registration, confirming that ArtCamp has a firm place among summer programs for the public. Its nineteenth year is being held at the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art, UWB, from July 7 to 25. Registration is open until the end of May.

This year, 37 courses will take place during the three weeks of July, some of which are already fully booked. However, there are still many options within the varied offer to spend part of the summer creatively, enjoy joint work and learn from artists from the Czech Republic and abroad. The courses can be seen as a hobby activity, but also as preparation for talent exams or a way to deepen your talent and gain new experience in various artistic fields.

“The most popular and also the first courses to be filled every year include those focused on figure drawing, illustration, painting, graphic design, jewelry making and animation. This is confirmed by this year's experience, when just tens of minutes after registration opened, some of the courses were completely full and there are only a few places left in others,” said Lenka Kodýtková, the operational director of the ArtCamp Summer School of Art, and she recommends that interested parties do not hesitate to register.

The basic course offer is enriched every year with new features and guest appearances by Czech and foreign artists. This year, those interested can, for example, focus on sound art, work with a professional slow motion camera, explore ways of using origami in design or try out creation in augmented reality. A unique opportunity for photographers is the course led by renowned photographer Libuše Jarcovjáková, recently inducted into the Czech Grand Design Hall of Fame.

“This year, the guest artists will come from, for example, Italy, Estonia, Great Britain, Bosnia and Herzegovina or Israel. After last year’s success, the calligraphy course with Japanese artist Mari Kučera will be held again, and Czech illustrator and Sutnarka graduate Marto Kelbl will also return, as will Slovak artist Martin Schwarz, who will guide the participants through a sketching course this year,” continued Lenka Kodýtková. It is clear that the participants of the summer school will be in for a great deal of inspiration and new stimuli for further creation.

In addition, the faculty is preparing an accompanying program for the summer school participants and the general public, which includes openings, lectures by interesting artists and final Friday presentations of the results of the week's work in the courses.

Sutnar Faculty currently reports full enrollment for the following courses:  Animation / Hand-Drawn Digital Animation, Jewelry Design, Fashion design, Figurative drawing, Photography / Meta Portrait. Illustration, Illustration / Artist´s Book, Ceramic Design,  Comics / Original Comic Stories, Painting Styles, Sketching. But don't despair, eventually a place may become available here too. It is important to follow the ArtCamp summer school website, where you will find all the necessary information.
