For the first time in the history of EUPeace, the Senate, which is made up of representatives of all key interest groups of the nine member universities (students, PhD students, researchers and administrators), will also meet at the university alliance meeting in Madrid. The EUPeace Senate is intended to be a space for discussion on the future of the alliance and to ensure that the views of all universities are taken into account in shaping its direction. Together, the Senate members will refine its role and initiatives until the next meeting, scheduled for April 2025.

Members of the alliance's leadership (Governing Board and Steering Committee) will discuss one of the priorities for the alliance. This is the creation of four dedicated research hubs that focus on current global challenges such as security and conflict transformation, climate science and just transformation, inclusive healthcare, and migration and human rights. The research centres will bring together laboratories and scientists from across Europe to collaborate on projects with a direct impact on promoting peace and justice.

In the meantime, the Education Board will continue to focus on fine-tuning the EUPeace European Track, which aims to revolutionise education within the alliance. The programme will provide students from all disciplines with access to content and learning experiences that promote cross-cultural and interdisciplinary collaboration. Upon completion of the programme, students will gain a deep theoretical and practical understanding of inclusion, peace and justice - the core values of the EUPeace alliance.

The fall meeting will also offer strategic debates involving university rectors, vice chancellors, academic leaders, administrators and students, focusing on the long-term governance and structure of the alliance. Central to these discussions will be the possibility of creating a separate legal entity, EUPeace, which would ensure the long-term stability and influence of the alliance.

Next year, at the turn of August and September, the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen should host a similar meeting of EUPeace committees and commissions. This year's event in Madrid will also be an opportunity for the participants of the University of West Bohemia to be inspired to organise their own meeting in such manner.
