The Faculty of Education of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen is introducing an innovative professional bachelor’s study program in Kinanthropology – Wellness Specialist. This program, developed in collaboration with the Municipality of Karlovy Vary and the Regional Authority of the Karlovy Vary Region, addresses the growing demand for experts in the fields of wellbeing and traditional spa care.
The program will be conducted by the Center for Physical Education and Sport at the Faculty of Education UWB, directly in Karlovy Vary. As the name suggests, it focuses on human movement and the optimal use of physical activities for human health. Graduates of this program will not only enhance the range of services in comprehensive spa care but also provide the residents and visitors of the region with health and fitness-oriented physical activity programs. The program emphasizes systematic professional work and includes a number of practical seminars. Students will spend more than 100 hours each semester on internships with the program's partners. “Graduates will be able to recommend how each of us can develop to achieve harmony in relation to a healthy lifestyle,” says Pavel Mentlík, Dean of the Faculty of Education.
“Students will be trained in basic biomedical disciplines, such as anatomy and physiology, and will gain knowledge in the science of human movement,” adds Petr Valach, Head of the Center for Physical Education and Sport. "They will engage in a variety of practical activities, from fitness training and modern forms of exercise to applied swimming, indoor and outdoor physical activities, as well as nutritional counseling, massage, and the basics of physiotherapy," adds Petr Valach.
Applications can be submitted electronically until August 15, 2024. More information about the program is available on the website of the faculty.
