EUPeace International University

In the first week of July, a representative from the International Office UWB represented the University of West Bohemia at the International Staff Week event at the University of Sarajevo, a partner university of UWB within the European Universities Alliance EUPeace.

The International Staff Week at the University of Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina was attended by 43 representatives from 24 higher education institutions from 14 European countries. The University of West Bohemia was represented by Romana Suchá, who introduced the UWB and its international projects, including the EUPeace Alliance. EUPeace was also represented by staff from the University of Sarajevo, Philipps-University Marburg and the University of Limoges.

Workshops and lectures were focused on overcoming mobility challanges within the Erasmus+ program, such as mental health or communication barriers. Vice-Rector for International Relations, Prof. Dr. Enita Nakaš, who participated in the EUPeace workshop at UWB this year, presented the activities of the EUPeace alliance. During the concluding workshop, participants shared proposals for the content of future International Staff Week events to best meet the needs of International Relations Officers.

During a guided tour of the historic center of Sarajevo, led by a student from the University of Sarajevo, participants learned about the history and present of this multicultural city, often called the Jerusalem of Europe.

The last day was dedicated to visiting the city of Mostar. ISW participants listened to two series of presentations of entrepreneurial and research projects by students from the Faculty of Economy and the Agro-Mediterranean Faculty of Mostar's Dzemal Bijedic University. This was followed by a guided tour of the historic center of Mostar.

Throughout the week, representatives from all participating higher education institutions had the opportunity to share their personal experience in international relations, discuss possibilities for expanding existing cooperation within the Erasmus+ program and explore new collaboration options.

Over the next three years, UWB will have the opportunity to deepen the partnership with the University of Sarajevo not only within the EUPeace alliance, but also within the Erasmus+ KA171 credit mobility program, as the application submitted on behalf of the University of West Bohemia was successful this year. KA171 mobility will facilitate the exchange of both staff and students between the two partner universities.
